who are we?

YNKB was founded in 2002. Today YNKB is: Thomas Østergaard, Kirsten Dufour, “Stoffer” Michael Christensen, Anders Hvam Waagø, Tine Tvergaard, Joen Vedel, Finn Thybo Andersen, Eva La Cour and Ninna Poulsen.

YNKB is an artist group based on Ydre Nørrebro, the most densely populated area of Copenhagen and also the part of Copenhagen with the highest percentage of immigrants.
YNKB wants to leave the elitist centres of Art and want to establish cultural and artistic activities where people live. Because YNKB see art as a collective research project on a global interrelational and human scale based on humanity, openness, self-determination, participation, generosity and warmth, YNKB wants to use dialogue and participation as a method of involving participants and audiences in a common artistic process.
YNKB has a space on Baldersgade, Copenhagen, which is used for meetings, exhibitions, discussions, screenings and workshops. We also participate in projects else where in Denmark and abroad.
YNKB collaborates with other groups such as tv-tv in Copenhagen, the”Peoples Museum” project in cooperation with the artist group Parfyme and Palestinian artists and residents in the Palestinian village of Birzeit, Refshalevej near Christiania and on the exhibition ”Arvestykker” on Kronborg in collaboration with the Music House Elværket.

(It's about time and our last chance)

To make the impossible possible - the insignificant significant - the significant insignificant.

To work in the area that can be called our public life under the slogan: I want you to be.

To work with inter-human relations on the local level and create trust and friendship within and among all generations and groups.

To support freedom of expression, our constitutional, democratic right, in order to ensure development of (art and) culture.

To support cultural organizations and individuals in expressing themselves publicly about whatever they wish, to the other people in their neighbourhood.

To develop a network between those groups that create opinion and individuals.

To contribute to an international discourse with local groups through the personal meeting and exciting events trans-globally.
